The excitement is building in Scone as the town prepares to welcome back the much-anticipated Scone Equine Hospital Horse Festival Parade, a highlight of the renowned Scone Horse Festival, scheduled to trot through the streets on Saturday 11 May.
Presented by Scone Equine Hospital, this year’s parade promises a delightful blend of equestrian elegance and community camaraderie. From seasoned riders to horse enthusiasts of all stripes, everyone is invited to join in the spectacle.
According to Dr Peter Carrigan, Veterinarian at Scone Equine Hospital, the key to a standout parade float lies in capturing the spirit of our equine companions while unleashing creativity. “As a vet, I may not be an expert in floats, but I know what makes horses happy,” says Peter. “It’s about celebrating our equine friends in a way that’s authentic and imaginative.”
While equine-themed floats are a staple of the parade, participants are encouraged to let their creativity run wild. From whimsical designs to community-themed creations, there’s room for everyone to shine. Previous years have seen ingenious creations that have paid tribute to the rich history of the Scone region, as well as the Festival’s theme which in 2024 is “Let the Games Begin” in celebration of the 2024 Olympic Games.
“We’re proud to support the Scone Equine Hospital Horse Festival Parade,” says Alice Forsythe representing Scone Equine Hospital. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our shared love for horses and bring the community together in a meaningful way.”
So, whether you’re a local business, a community group, or simply a group of friends with a shared passion, now’s the time to saddle up and register your float. With the support of our naming sponsors, including the Scone Equine Hospital, you’ll be in good company as we trot, canter, and gallop our way through the heart of Scone.
