All roads lead to Scone, NSW, with more than 10,000 people soon to descend on the historic town for the 43rd annual Scone Horse Festival.
Local streets will close, schools will celebrate and travellers will come from far and wide as the festival takes over the town on May 4-14th, with 10 days of exciting and entertaining equine events.
Scone Horse Festival President, Andrew Cooper, said 2023 will bring the iconic festival back to its former glory.
“Our incredible town is known nation-wide as the ‘Horse Capital of Australia’ and we are proud to bring this jam-packed 10-day festival back to its former pre-COVID glory,” Mr Cooper said.
“Scone is the birthplace of over 50% of Australia’s Thoroughbred racehorses, and this festival showcases the versatility of the horse while paying homage to all breeds and equine skills including thoroughbreds, Australian Stock horses, draught horses, rodeos, dressage, show-jumping and more.
“The 2023 festival will include all the favourite events including the Warburton’s Street Parade, Scone Cup Carnival and race day, sheep dog trials, spectacular horse demonstrations in the White Park arena, thoroughbred industry awards, a stud farm tour, the JBS fireworks and more!”
Situated just three hours outside Sydney and 1.5hrs from Tamworth, the Scone Horse Festival will provide a wonderful time for families, with many events over the 10 days free of charge.
The 2023 festival theme ‘Kings & Queens of the Stables’ will see thousands of people celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty the King, as it falls on the same day as the festival’s Warburton Street Parade – Saturday 6 May.
“Our 2023 theme celebrates the men and women who breed and work with horses, while also paying tribute to our longest ruling monarch, Queen Elizabeth, and her enduring love for horses.
“Queen Elizabeth started riding when she was three and continued to do so until the year of her passing. Her lifelong love for horses is something we resonate with and will showcase in the festival,” Mr Cooper said. “It’s going to be an incredible 10-day event – make sure you come!”
You could definitely see your expertise in the paintings you write. The arena hopes for even more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to say how they believe. At all times follow your heart. “Until you walk a mile in another man’s moccasins you can’t imagine the smell.” by Robert Byrne.
