The Scone Race Club, established in 1944, is recognised as one of the premium racing surfaces in New South Wales (NSW).
With this said, it should be no surprise that the two-day Scone Cup Carnival held this year on 10-11 May, is the richest country racing carnival in Australia, offering nearly $2M in prize money across the two days and holds stand-alone metropolitan status.
Being the largest racing event of the year in the Hunter Valley, the enormous trackside marquee dines 1000 patrons in what can only be describe as a one-off racing and social experience. Where else can you purchase a ticket in a marquee and be guaranteed to be dining alongside racing and breeding royalty. The who’s who of the industry embrace the Scone Racing Carnival as their own and enjoy sharing their passion for this terrific event with all attendees. Equally, there are general admission adult tickets for $20 and free entry for children under 13, making it an affordable day out for everyone.
It is this racing carnival that highlights Scone’s status as the Horse Capital of Australia and draws an abundance of visitors to our Upper Hunter region. All ticketing and bus details are available on the Scone Race Club website.
This year, the Scone Race Club has mustered the support of new Scone Horse Festival gold sponsor TAB, to create the TAB Triple Header event.
Other significant contributors to this exciting new event are the Scone Golf Club, the Upper Hunter Shire Council, Scone Horse Festival, the Scone RSL Club and William Inglis & Sons. With a newly developed golf course the TAB Triple Header will combine golf, Sportsman’s lunch and the official Scone Cup Calcutta on Thursday 9 May. It’s expected to be a great day of camaraderie, laughs and a punt, building anticipation for the two-days of carnival ahead.
This gathering of these key organisations further enforces the pivotal and influential role the Scone Race Club plays in supporting the thriving Scone and equine community.
